Objectives
-
nTo
determine the effect varying winds speeds on waves and sediment
resuspension along the north shore of the Keweenaw Peninsula
-
nTo
map the regions of stamp sand resuspension
-
nTo
relate the importance of waves and currents to the transport of
stamp sands in Lake Superior
- To become more familiar with available coastal data as well as
manipulating data so as to put the data in a usable format
Summary
Sediment resuspension is related to wind speed, wave height, and particle
size.
Along the north shore of the Keweenaw Peninsula, the spatial area of resuspension can vary greatly with varying wind speeds and particle
diameters.
Transport is not only affected by waves but other coastal processes such
as longshore currents. The combination of coastal processes can
transport sediments great distances from their origins. |
