Discussion
The expansion of
the Panama Canal with the new sliding locks, larger chambers and water saving
basins is necessary to stay competative in the future. The growing global
transit demands accomodations for larger ships, and these operations require
as much conservation of water as possible. The cost of the project will
more than pay off in the long run.
