Recent issues of the site
Currently,
many problems had affecting the Yahara River
outlet to Lake
Mondata.
Some example at this region are the
destruction of valuable wetland , sediment and phosphorus loading from farm runoff , construction site and
stream-bank
erosion, urban storm water runoff, straightening and channelizing head
water areas for agriculture, discharge
from impoundments, areas of heavy aquatic
plant growth , high temperature and periods of low dissolved oxygen
(WDNR 2000).
Among
those issues, sediment loading can be
considered as one of the potential issue. According to WDNR,
approximately 424
tons of sediments have been delivered to the Lake Mondata by the Yahara
River
at each year which is about 7.5% of the total load of the Lake Mondata
watershed.
