Motivation for Project

In my coastal engineering class I have learned many concepts dealing with wind generated waves but I was never really taught how the wind generates water waves.  Because of this, I have decided to take on the task of researching the different theoretical models that have been developed in order to explain this phenomenon.  I also thought it would be interesting to do my own experiment that would test these theories.  In the end I hope to gain a better understanding of how wind generates waves.
