Concordia University Solutions
Concordia
undertook many different tasks in order to alleviate the recession of
the bluff. The university received funding for Lakefront Enhancement
and Bluff Stabilization project. One of
the scopes of the project was to install a revetment structure and
build breakwater in order to absorb some of the energy of the wave. The
also dug into the side of the bluff to reduce the slope to make it a
more stable bluff. They also created a footpath for a user friendly
access to get to the shore from the university. Finally, they
introduced vegetation to mitigate the effects of surface runoff on the
bluff. The picture below shows an overhead view of the structures.
