MOTIVATION

Computer programs are an essential part of engineering design today.  Programs allow for analysis of multifaceted systems that can analyze and output data for extraction.  For this reason, the ability to learn several computer programs and their setup is instrumental in the learning process.
Lake Monona is one such complicated system that has many integral parts to identify.  FVCOM (Finite Volume Coastal Ocean Model) has been selected to use for Lake Monona and Monona Bay to understand the circulation process.  Once a hydrologic regime has been identified, FVCOM can be used to help understand the hydrodynamic processes.  The results of the study will hopefully be used to assess future designs and impacts to Monona Bay and Lake Monona.
