The elevation of Twin
Lake is very important when
analyzing the water problem in the basement.
First, the house was built to close to the ground water table. The City of Robbinsdale
raised the water table approximately ten years after the home was built. This is made obvious by the plot above. The way the City did this was they drained a
lake close to Twin because there were too many people having water in their
basements. Twin
Lake was a newly developed area and
had room to build new homes so the adjustment could be made. The ratio was higher for dry homes on the
neighboring lake, after increasing the lake level. While leading to basement
flooding on Twin. Our home was one of
the houses built too far down. It became
our problem. By monitoring the lake
levels and knowing the past lake elevations one can approximate the amount of
water in the basement accordingly and can plan how many gallons per minute need
to be pumped out of the basement.
